Endless Trauma: Gaza Residents’ Ongoing Struggle with Displacement

Life as a Displaced Person in Al-Mawasi: The Heartbreaking Reality

Meet Haider, a man who has been constantly on the move across the Al-Mawasi area, living in a tent. In his own words, “I’ve been forcibly displaced eight times, an average of once a month.” The recent displacement due to explosions left him sleepless for 24 hours as he moved from one place to another, all the while worrying about his family in northern Gaza.

Desperate Living Conditions for Thousands

Haider is not alone in his struggles. Kamil and his children have also faced multiple displacements, currently residing in Al-Bureij but feeling the constant threat of bombardments. The living conditions are dire, with a severe lack of basic necessities like food, water, medicine, and clothes, leaving children without even shoes.

The Mental Toll on Children

Kamil can only imagine the trauma his children are enduring. He mentions how they still recount the story of Alaa, showcasing the lasting impact of their experiences. The UN reports that 90% of Gazans have faced displacement since the conflict began, highlighting the widespread suffering.

A Call for Reunification and Peace

For Haider, the ultimate wish is to be reunited with his family in Gaza City and to see an end to the bloodshed. The plight of displaced families in Gaza City underscores the urgent need for a resolution to the conflict.
