16 C.H.O.I. Members Enhance Humanitarian Assessment Skills in Training Workshop

On 19 and 20 June 2024, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) conducted a workshop in Yaoundé to support the Cameroon Humanitarian Organisations Initiative (C.H.O.I). The workshop aimed to enhance the understanding of SPHERE standards and multi-sectoral needs assessment methods among participants.

What were the objectives of the workshop?

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of SPHERE standards
  • Learn about multi-sectoral needs assessment methods
  • Enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian action
  • Strengthen resilience in the community

What impact does this workshop have on humanitarian assistance?

As the humanitarian sector moves towards a more localized approach to aid, national civil society organizations (CSOs) like C.H.O.I are increasingly called upon to take on important roles in the distribution of humanitarian assistance. By providing these organizations with the necessary tools and knowledge, the workshop helps to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of humanitarian action.

In conclusion

The workshop conducted by IOM for C.H.O.I in Yaoundé aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to adhere to SPHERE standards and conduct multi-sectoral needs assessments effectively. This initiative is a step towards strengthening resilience and improving the delivery of humanitarian assistance at the local level.
