Why is the war in Sudan a humanitarian crisis?
- The war in Sudan has led to one of the largest humanitarian crises globally.
- Nine million people displaced by violence
- Devastation of lives and infrastructure
What are the current challenges faced?
From the UNHCR’s perspective, lack of ceasefire and peace attempts are concerning.
- Nearly two million people displaced to neighbouring nations
- Lack of significant funding and safe humanitarian access
- Neighbouring countries overwhelmed by the crisis without enough international support.
What is the call to action?
The neglect of Sudan’s crisis must be addressed promptly.
- International commitments falling short
- Increased numbers of Sudanese fleeing to Europe
- Necessity for peace to prevent further displacement and suffering
Peace in Sudan must be prioritized before it’s too late to prevent further destruction of the country’s fabric and societal structures. Action is needed urgently to end the war and rebuild the nation. International support and cooperation are crucial in resolving the crisis.
